Born in Lebanon’s capital Beirut, Dr. Chadi Murr discovered his passion for plastic surgery at an early age.
It all started from the moment he met a young girl suffering from a severe bilateral cleft lip and palate. Her family had limited resources and therefore was unable to seek the help of specialized surgeons.
Watching her undergo one unsuccessful surgery after the other, he was deeply marked by this girl. However, her story inspired him to find his vocation, and it was then that he decided to become a plastic surgeon.
Right after obtaining his French and Lebanese baccalaureates from the “Lycee Franco-Libanais – Nahr Ibrahim”, he left his motherland and moved to Italy where he studied Medicine at the University of Pisa. He graduated with a degree in General Medicine and a thesis on ‘Breast Reconstruction after Skin Sparing Mastectomy’.
His successful journey continued when he qualified in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Competition at the University of Siena, where he pursued his specialization studies and graduated with a thesis on “The Correction of Thoracic Deformity in Poland’s Syndrome, about 47 cases”, with Prof. Carlo D’aniello.
He then became a resident in plastic surgery, operating near his mentor, Prof. Alessandro Massei, considered as the father of Cleft Lip and Palate surgery in Italy, as well as other congenital syndromes such as Poland, Pectus Excavatum, Hypospadias, and many other reconstructive surgeries.
After three years of working with his Maestro Italiano, he travelled to Brazil, to the Ponteficia Universitade Catolica do Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre where he met Prof. Pedro Diacyr Escobar Martins, one of Brazil’s pioneers in plastic surgery. Working closely with him, he exercised and reached a high level of perfection in cosmetic surgery.
During his internship in Brazil, he received the excellent teachings of Prof. Jefferson Silva Braga in the fields of hand surgery and microsurgery.
He also completed training in cosmetic surgery, working alongside Dr. Kleber Fisch, in Novo Hamburgo, Brazil.
After his specialization, he visited several clinics across Brazil, the most important one being the Prof. Ivo Pitanguy Institute, the undisputed master of international aesthetic and plastic surgery.
Back to Italy, he accomplished a post-graduate training in the Breast Unit at the Hospital of Pisa with Dr. Manuela Roncella.
Afterwards, he returned to Brazil, and specifically to Hospital da Plastica in Rio de Janeiro, where he completed a fellowship with Prof. Farid Hakme and benefited from the exceptional teachings of Prof. Liacyr Ribeiro.
Finally, after nearly thirteen years abroad, Dr. Chadi Murr returned to his country, Lebanon, where he is practicing plastic surgery in all its forms, reconstructive and aesthetic.
He is currently an instructor and a surgeon in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Lebanese American University Medical Center (LAUMC). In addition, he practices reconstructive surgery at the Central Military Hospital of Beirut.
Author of several scientific articles and speaker at various national and international conferences, he is always committed to move with the pace of change, attending courses around the globe.
Dr. Chadi Murr is also a member of the Brazilian, Italian and Lebanese Societies of Plastic Surgery.
