Welcome to Dr. Chadi Murr
The ideal candidates for reduction mammoplasty are healthy women who experience emotional and physical discomfort because of over-developed breasts. Read More
Patients considering future pregnancies and breastfeeding should postpone breast reduction until afterwards as this surgery might compromise their ability to lactate. Patients considering weight loss are also advised to reschedule the surgery for after they have reached the desired weight.
I will evaluate your general health status and any pre-existing health conditions or risk factors, discuss your options and then recommend a course of treatment accordingly.
Breast reduction is usually done under general anesthesia and takes about three hours, depending on the amount of reduction needed. I will start by making an incision around the areola and down to the breast crease in a lollipop shape, then another incision across the breast sides in the shape of an anchor. Once done, the excess glandular tissue, fat and skin are trimmed away.Read More
I will reposition the nipple and areola to a more natural and youthful height, reduce the enlarged areola if needed then reshape the breast using skin from around the areola. The incisions are then closed with stitches. In some cases, liposuction may be applied to remove excess fat from the armpit area to achieve a more satisfying overall bust contour.
The sutures are removed after a week or two. Patients are normally able to resume their work and light activities a week after the surgery. However, during the first week, it is important to avoid any strenuous activities that put pressure on the chest.
The result of your breast reduction is noticeable immediately after surgery, and you will be satisfied with the outcome.
Expectations, complications and pre-operative exams will be discussed during your consultation.
